Physiotherapy for Jaw Pain, TMJ Dysfunction & Headaches
WE’RE HERE TO HELP
-
Our team is highly experienced in TMJ & Headache physiotherapy.
Jaw pain, clicking, tension headaches and migraines are often linked to dysfunction in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), neck and surrounding muscles. Our physiotherapists assess and treat the underlying cause - not just the symptoms.
If you are experiencing jaw pain, headaches or facial tension, give us a call to see how we can help.
-
The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) connects your jaw to your skull. When this joint or the surrounding muscles become irritated or overloaded, symptoms can develop.
Common signs of TMJ dysfunction include:
Jaw pain or tightness
Clicking or popping in the jaw
Pain when chewing
Locking of the jaw
Facial tension
Headaches around the temples
Ear pain or fullness
TMJ issues are often linked to neck stiffness, stress, teeth clenching or poor posture.
-
Many headaches are musculoskeletal in origin and respond well to physiotherapy.
We commonly treat:
Tension headaches
Cervicogenic headaches (neck-related)
Jaw-related headaches
Headaches associated with posture
Headaches linked to stress and muscle tension
If your headaches worsen with neck movement or prolonged sitting, physiotherapy may be beneficial.
-
Your initial appointment includes:
Detailed symptom history

We aim to determine whether your symptoms are driven by the jaw, neck, posture, stress patterns, or a combination.

Dry needling (where appropriate)
Education on clenching and stress patterns
